Well, the layers and layers we are able to adorn ourselves with during winters make us think that it’s okay to be a bit lazy and not have a strict fitness regime. And of course, there is no end to delectable (often fried or sweet) food to gorge on. So basically, exercising and keeping yourself fit is even more important in winters than in any other season. So while at Salosa we take good care of your skin, hair and nails, don’t let the winter winds deter you from taking care of your fitness. Here are some ways to winter proof your fitness regime:
Before you think what the hell we are talking about as winters are meant to be lazed around under a warm and snug blanket, hear us out. It’s very tempting to come back after a day’s work and want to hit the comfy couch but if you can hold that comfort just for some time, you will be more inclined to go for your evening run or jog. If you are a morning person, make sure to leave your bed sometime before your workout time as this would let you mingle with the cold outside for a bit before you go all out.
When you have actually summoned the courage to head out for your run, jog or workout, make sure you are all dressed up for the winters. Armed with right clothes like a t-shirt that you can breathe in, a woolen layer on top of it to guard yourself and a jacket on top depending on the temperature and the cold wind, you will feel extremely comfortable even if it’s freezing outside. Also, before you hit the ground, do some basic warmer, stretching, etc. at home so you are slightly warm when you get outside.
We cannot stress this enough. Do not think that you don’t need to keep yourself sufficiently hydrated because it’s winters just because you don’t sweat. You must drink up. Tuck a water bottle in your workout gear before you head out.
For those who really dread the idea of braving the winter chill outside, there are a myriad of exercises you can do indoors. You can even join some indoor classes. You could join a spinning class, for example, which could be a good alternative to cycling outside. You can even do your basic yoga. Just find some empty, peaceful corner in your house, lay out your yoga mat, and you are all set. Too lazy to move from the couch, simply wear your gym clothes, and do some basic stretching exercises as and when you can.
Winters are also a good time to get your body moving by having some indoor games fun. You could go bowling, play table tennis, or what the heck, jump on a trampoline. Even though these won’t be a complete alternative to a good workout session, they will get you moving at least while having some fun.
